Admission to the Ph.D. programmes will be in the following schemes:
(i) Full-time (FT) (ii) Part-time (PT)  (iii) Internal (IN) and (iv) External (EX).
Ph.D. fellowships are available for candidates under Full-time scheme.
For the Part-time and External schemes of registration, the applicant must be an employee of a recognized institution/organization with at least two years of service and be engaged in professional work in the area to  which admission is sought.
Candidates under Part-time scheme will have to submit no objection certificate from the Head of the institution.External registration is available only for candidates sponsored by and employed in recognized research institutions such as Research and Development Organizations / National Laboratories/ and Industries  having R & D facilities recognized by Department of Science and Technology. A candidate applying for admission to the external registration programme must provide detailed information about the research
facilities available at his/her organization and must produce a certificate from a competent authority specifying that these facilities would be available to him/her for carrying out research. He/She should also provide the bio-data of the prospective supervisor who would supervise the candidate’s work at his/her
organization. External registration will be granted only when a qualified research guide is available in the sponsoring institution and is willing to guide the candidate along with a guide in NITC. Candidates from educational institution are not eligible under external scheme.
Registration under Internal (IN) scheme is available only to full time/contract employees of NITC. The Institute offers Ph.D. programmes under part time scheme for permanent/contract employees and research

staff of the Institute if they apply for the same at the normal time for admission with the recommendation of the Head of the department in which he/she is employed. Those who are working on research projects in the Institute should have completed a period of not less than one year on the project and project should be in force for at least two more years. A certificate to this effect from the Principal Investigator/Head of the Department concerned should be attached to the application form. If an employee who has registered as a part time research scholar resigns his/her job before the minimum period required for the PhD work, his/her registration shall stand automatically cancelled. However, if he/she has completed the course work and comprehensive examination and the required minimum period, he/she can be allowed to continue the research work if the Doctoral Committee of the research scholar recommends the same.

Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institute of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The research activities in the Institute centers around theoretical and experimental physics in the areas of condensed matter physics, nuclear physics and high-energy physics. The Institute invites applications for its regular Ph. D program in the above-mentioned areas from candidates, who satisfy the following criteria:
  1. (A)M.Sc. in Physics with minimum 55% marks (in aggregate) 
  2. (B)A valid GATE score with a rank upto 200 or,  candidates who have qualified CSIR–UGC Test (NET) within the last one year or candidates who are offered DST-Inspire fellowship for carrying out Ph. D program. 

Candidates who have qualified JEST-2013 and hold a rank up to 174 need not send any application. They will be contacted directly by the Institute. Those candidates who hold a rank beyond 174 in JEST-2013 but satisfy the criteria (A) and (B) as mentioned above, may also send the application.

Centre for Soft Matter Research (CSMR), formerly Centre for Liquid Crystal Research (CLCR), is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. CSMR focuses on broader areas of research related to soft matter. It has close collaborations with other research institutes, both within the country and abroad.

Admissions 2013-2014 @ University of Madras

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

1. Candidates shall read the Prospectus carefully before filling-in the application and   preserve the prospectus till the completion of the programme.
2. The candidate has to detach and fill in the following:
  (i)Application form (ii) Computer Coding sheet (iii) Address slip
3. Applications must be complete in all respects. Incomplete Applications will be
 rejected without any intimation.
 4. Separate application forms (at a cost of Rs.300/-) shall be submitted for each
  Programme (including Regular and Self-supportive programme) offered by the  different Schools. Self Supportive Programmes fee structure is higher than the regular programme fee structure. Applications cannot be transferred from one School to another.
5. Foreign Nationals including NRIs with valid Passports and Visa issued by the
  Government of India and Refugees will be considered for admission subject to the  conditions prescribed by the Government, their eligibility of schooling and qualifying examinations passed.
6. 15% supernumerary seats are available for all the PG courses (Regular programmes only) for Foreign Nationals including NRIs. They need not appear for Entrance Test. 2 Supernumerary seats available on Jammu & Kashmir students in all the Departments.
7. In the case of candidates withdrawing from programmes after admission, No REFUND OF FEES Will be made by the University under any circumstances. In case of withdrawal after the last date of admission, the candidate is liable to pay the entire course fee. (a) The fees payable by the SC/ST students of other states are not reimbursed by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu, hence other state SC/ST students have to pay the fees in full as levied to other students and later they can get it refunded from their State Governments Scholarships.

9. Attested copies of mark statements of the qualifying examination shall be sent along with the filled-in application form. However, the applicants who will appear for the final semester  examinations during April/May 2012 shall send the application form along with the attested mark statements up to Five Semesters. The final semester mark statement shall be sent within
7 days after the publication of results of U.G./P.G. Examinations of the University of Madras.
10. The candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from other Universities shall   obtain the eligibility certificate from the University of Madras and submit the same at the time  of admission to the Course of study.
11. To obtain the eligibility Certificate, candidates are directed to contact the University Information Centre (Enquiry Office) /ERC Section of this University.
12. Entrance Examination will be conducted by the respective Departments / Schools and Hall ticket will be sent to the students by the Departments concerned.(List of courses for which Entrance examinations are conducted and list of courses for which admissions are made based  on the qualifying examinations are provided in page No.39 & 40.
13. Admissions to Masters/M.Phil. programmes are based on the marks obtained in the Basic    qualifying Examinations 50% and the Entrance Examination 50% of marks.
14. Admission to M.B.A. (Regular and Self-supportive) and M.C.A. courses are based on the marks  obtained in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by the Anna University.
15. Attach a Rs.20/- stamped self addressed 24x12 cm envelope along with filled-in application.
16. University is not responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit.
17. Number of seats are limited to each department offering the courses and selections are   based on the Reservation Policy prescribed by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
18. Candidates from other States (except SC/ST) will be considered for selection under General turn only.
19. Relaxation upto 5% of marks is considered to SC/ST/Physically and visually Challenged candidates for admission to M.Phil. programmes. Differently abled persons shall enclose a certificate issued by the Department of Rehabilitation, Government of Tamil Nadu, in proof of  evidence.
 20. University reserves the rights not to conduct any of the courses if the circumstances so warranted without arranging any reasons.
21 The MBA/MCA application forms shall reach the Registrar, University of Madras 7 days from publication of TANCET result by the Anna University along with a copy of the TANCET Marks obtained from Internet.
 22. Application form for admission can also be downloaded from the University website at http://www. unom.ac.in/cbcspr.php However, the cost of application for Rs.300/- by means of Demand Draft shall be enclosed, otherwise the application will summarily be rejected.
 23. If there is any dispute regarding P.G./M.Phil./P.G.Diploma/Diploma/Certificate courses admission, the matter needs to be resolved only in the High Court of Madras, Chennai.
24. Last date for submission of filled in Application for all P.G. and
   MBA & MCA) is 31.05.2013.

25. Filled in application form with enclosures together with the Computer coding sheets should be submitted to the Head of the Departments concerned. Original Certificates need not be sent along with filled-in application.
26. The SC/ST Candidates can avail only one application at free of cost on production of two attested copies of Community Certificate.
